Amble is a series of drawings that were a consequence of trying to capture the spontaneous lucidity of the moment an image is conceived. Although I am sure that there is a concealed logic to the whole process, I take some decisions unknowingly. I try to postpone the moment of conscious aesthetic decision during my creation process, simply to see what truly governs the beginning of a drawing, and carries it forward until I stop for a moment to look at the image as a whole. From then on, it’s about making what is already there more visible.
It is this lucidity that I have tried to hold still, and though it seemed impossible at first, capturing this restless, volatile energy, I have come to enjoy the challenge it presents to me as an image-maker.
